Nancy J. Lavelle, Ph.D. is Founder, President and CEO of Total Education Solutions, Inc. (TES), a privately held, full-service, multi-state special education company that provides compliance, administration, management, and staffing solutions to local education agencies, public, charter and private schools. TES currently provides outsourced special education services to over 5000 eligible children and adults at 300 public, charter and private school sites, representing 70 school districts and county offices of education, and 39 Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPAs) in California; 26 public school academies representing four Intermediate School Districts and six charter authorizers in Michigan; and 32 community schools representing eight counties and six sponsors in Ohio. Founded in 1997, Dr. Lavelle brings to TES over thirty years experience as the President of the nationally recognized, non-profit Institute for the Redesign of Learning, which she also founded. Dr. Lavelle received her doctorate in Special Education from the University of California, Los Angeles; and has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at California State University, Los Angeles. Dr. Lavelle is author of the "Taking Charge™” personal responsibility training programs and has conducted over 200 workshops nationwide for parents, educators and other professionals working with at-risk youth. The course has also been offered through the Office of Continuing Education at California State University since 1978. She has served as a Review Panelist for the U.S. Department of Education National Exemplary School Recognition Program; the Council on American Private Education; as well as the Institute for At-Risk Infants, Children, Youth and Their Families. Dr. Lavelle has served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Private Schools for Exceptional Children, Washington, D.C.; the California Association of Private Special Education Schools, Sacramento; Education 1st!, a Los Angeles based entertainment industry group dedicated to improving the quality of education; and the Inside Edge Educational Foundation. Dr. Lavelle has been a member of the Board of Directors and is a past President of the Education Industry Association (EIA) and currently serves on EIA’s Education Industry Leadership Board based in Washington, D.C. |

Greg Golinski joined TES in March of 2004 to assume the position of Controller. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the California Polytechnic State University. With over 16 years experience as a Controller and CFO, Greg’s knowledge of business management, strategic planning, and his leadership ability has been instrumental to TES' growth and success. Upon earning his degree, Greg worked in the capacity of the Controller and CFO for such companies as Americall Corporation, and Waste Management, Inc. In 2005, Greg earned his MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and has been promoted to the position of Chief Financial Officer.

Ms. Moore joined the Total Education Solutions team in July 2006. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she holds a degree in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. After a successful career in software consulting, sales and marketing, she moved into the health care arena working with the elderly population. Her keen business sense and compassion for doing the right thing has allowed her much success over the years. The zeal for ensuring that the future is bright for all children is what brings Ms. Moore to TES. She brings to TES over 15 years of business development and relationship management experience.
At TES Ms. Moore has successfully managed the provision of Contracted Special Education services in both our Sacramento and San Diego Regions. In two years, she has expanded both the quality and nature of the services provided, currently serving a combined total of 39 school districts, charter schools and county offices of education. Ms. Moore has successfully championed larger projects with the California Department of Education, Nevada County Superintendent of Schools and San Diego County Office of Education. Ms. Moore also manages TES’ Supplemental Education Services Program where we provide after-school tutoring to over 75 school districts and over 800 students out of our 3 regional offices in the State of California alone. Some of the larger districts being serviced include Los Angeles Unified School District, San Diego City School District and Oakland Unified School District. She continues to focus on providing charter schools and school districts with the resources necessary to become and remain in compliance with Federal, state and local school district laws and regulations.

Ms. Hazlett joined TES in 1997 as part of the management team when the Company was formed. In the summer of 1998, Ms. Hazlett was promoted to Director of Human & Administrative Resources. Prior to joining TES, Ms. Hazlett held a variety of roles, primarily in Human Resources, at the Institute for the Redesign of Learning, which she joined in 1990. Ms. Hazlett has effectively established a Human Resource department that not only manages the credentialing, licensing and certification requirements of over 700 employees, but also the regulatory and licensing applications required for providers of special education services in both California, Michigan and Ohio. As the HR Director, Ms. Hazlett’s primary focus is on employee benefits. Because of her efforts TES and IRL both offer excellent benefit packages, which enable them to be highly competitive employers in the special education field. Ms. Hazlett has a BS degree in Business Management. In addition, Ms. Hazlett is currently a member of the California Chamber of Commerce, PIHRA and the Society for Human Resource Management.

Julie Anne Hruby
is the Director of Contracted Special Education Services (CSES) for the Los Angeles region. She has been with our company since November 2005. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Secondary Education, she was a teacher of language arts and community-based instruction to emotionally disturbed teenagers, while also mentoring them in their residential treatment facility. Ms. Hruby has an experienced background in public, residential, and non-public school settings. She holds a Master of Arts Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Special Education: Severe Needs Affective. Before joining TES, she taught learning disabled and emotionally disturbed students at a non-public school. Julie is a certified Behavior Intervention Case Manager (BICM). Most recently, Ms. Hruby obtained a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from California State University. She holds current credentials in Special Education and Educational Administration.

is the Senior Director of the Educational Support and Clinical Services Programs for the Los Angeles area. Prior to joining Total Education Solutions she spent several years in various special education assignments of increasing scope and responsibility. Her classroom experiences were strengthened while working with students in the non-public and public school settings as a Special Education teacher specializing in behavior management and modification. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California and holds a Masters degree in Education from Pepperdine University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Organizational Leadership. As a certified Behavior Intervention Case Manager (BICM), Meaghan is committed to ensuring each child's program is tailored to meet their individual needs.

Chris’ main contributions to TES stem from his work as bilingual kindergarten teacher for the Philadelphia public school district where he developed literacy curriculum and assessments in Spanish. Chris continued his study of children’s language development at Temple University as a research assistant for an NICHD funded grant investigating narrative discourse of bilingual children age four to seven. Chris has presented a Symposium on Research in Children Language Disorders (SRCLD) held annually in Madison Wisconsin. He has also contributed to articles on narrative development published in the Journal of Speech Language and Hearing.

Dana Clemens Dana Clemens joined Total Education Solutions in April of 2005. Prior to joining TES, Dana worked for several years as a house manager at a residential treatment facility for emotionally disturbed boys in Northern California. Among her many responsibilities, she created and implemented behavior strategies for boys aged 7-18 years. Dana started with TES as a behavior intervention specialist and gradually transitioned into her role as Program Manager of the Educational Support Program. Dana received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Sonoma State University and along with being a Behavior Intervention Case Manager (BICM), she is also currently a Certified Instructor for the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program. Her dedication and passion for working with children has been instrumental in the growth and success of TES. |

Alex Romero has been with Total Education Solutions for four years as the SES Program Manager for Los Angeles. Ms. Romero formally worked for LAUSD for the Division of Special Education, Due Process. She brings with her knowledge and experience in working with families and students from all socio economic areas. This includes working with children with remedial needs. Alex attended California State University, Dominguez Hills and is further pursuing her education.
She currently manages 15 school districts within Los Angeles County, oversees a vast number of families, students and service providers.

Mr. Martinez joined TES in January 2008, bringing with him over 12 years of Facility Management experience. Prior to joining TES, Mr. Martinez worked as a seasoned Operations Manager at one of the more prestigious Building Maintenance firms specializing in all facets of facility management projects. Mr. Martinez, then, was responsible for managing labor and equipment budgets in excess of $2 million and 250 direct/contracted personnel for fortune 1000 companies - some of the more notable clients were Federal Express, Dole World Headquarters, Warner Brothers and J. Paul Getty Museum and Villa. Raul recently achieved Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification and is continuing to develop TES' Corporate Sustainability Plan.

Joined TES in April of 2007. Since receiving her bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, she has committed her career to the field of education. She has worked for several universities, where she gained extensive experience in areas such as international education, grant management, educational program creation and development, as well as diversity recruitment and graduate student admissions.
In her current role, Carolina oversees an outstanding group of professionals who handle the processes of application, pre-screening/interview/evaluation, hiring, and retention of TES’ employees as well as marketing and university alliances.

Debbie Allen, OTD, OTR/L Dr. Allen joined Total Education Solutions in February 2008. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach, Dr. Allen went on to obtain a Master of Arts degree and a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California, where she focused her studies on program development for internationally adopted children and their families in addition to sensory integration theory, assessment, and practice. Initially working with children and families from high-risk populations as a case manager in the social services industry, she became interested in the developmental disabilities population while working for the Regional Center of Orange County as an Early Start service coordinator. Dr. Allen is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC). Certified in Sensory Integration therapy, as well as the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT), Dr. Allen oversees TES’ occupational and physical therapy programs.

Shea received her B.A. in Psychology from Dartmouth College and her M.A. in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles. Shea is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and has training in many areas of Applied Behavioral Analysis including Discrete Trial Training, Pivotal Response Training, and Positive Behavioral Support. She has experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities ranging in age from 17 months to 35 years. Shea has utilized her extensive training and experience in ABA to develop effective programs for children with autism and other related disorders in the school and home settings.

Susan Billens-Ivory, Ph.D., CCC-SLP Dr. Ivory brings to TES over 20 years of professional experience in Speech-Language Pathology. Her broad experiences include providing direct clinical services to adults and children in a variety of clinical settings, managing Speech-Language Pathology clinical programs, teaching courses (such as Speech and Language Development, Diagnostics, Remediation) at the community college and university levels as well as supervising students during their clinical rotations. She greatly enjoys providing direct clinical services to children seen at TES, educating families about speech and language development, and mentoring young professionals. All of Dr. Ivory’s degrees are in Speech-Language Pathology. She received her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, her M.A. from the University of Minnesota and her Ph.D. from the University of Kansas

joined Total Education Solutions (TES) in September, 2007 as a Managing Director, responsible for overseeing TES’ management contract with the Institute for the Redesign of Learning. Jason has been a social services administrator for 20 years serving children, adults and families in need. A self-avowed “systems guy,” Jason enjoys redesigning or revamping programs and evaluation systems to maximize efficiency and effectiveness for all concerned with a focus on identifying and squeezing out maximal pertinent data with minimal effort. An inveterate do-it -yourselfer, Jason thrives on any challenge, and will cheerily take on automotive, electronic, or home repairs with the same enthusiasm he puts into repairing or expanding existing human services. In his years as an executive consultant, a director of mental health programs, and other related positions, Jason has helmed a wide range of mental health and educational programs. Jason received a BA in psychology and English from Williams College and an MSW from California State University, Long Beach. He lives in San Marino with his wife, six children and their pets, too numerous to count.

Lynne M. Porter, M.A. Total Education Solutions/Michigan. Ms. Porter joined Total Education Solutions (TES) as the Regional Manager for Michigan in July, 2002. Under her leadership, TES established its first out-of-state office under the name Michigan Special Education Solutions (MSES). Formerly a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of a charter school in Lansing Michigan, Ms. Porter brings with her a wealth of experience both from the traditional as well as from the charter school setting. Prior to serving as a CAO, Ms. Porter helped to establish 4 new Charter Schools in Michigan and one in Colorado. She was an Elementary School Principal for 6 years in Lansing, Michigan as well as special education teacher. She received her Masters of Arts degree from Michigan State University in Educational Administration as well as her Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Special Education. In January of 2000, she was voted as one of the One Hundred People to Watch in the 21st century by the Lansing State Journal and in August of that year spoke at a National Press Conference with Governor George W. Bush on Education. She continues to be an Educational Leader in her community, fulfilling her lifelong commitment to ensure that all children have access to a quality education.

Edwina McKenzie-Madison, M.A. Edwina McKenzie-Madison began working at TES in October 2005. Her current role at TES includes compliance and supervision of special education programs and staff at several public school academies in the Metropolitan Detroit Area. She also coordinates the SES program in Michigan. Mrs. McKenzie-Madison holds a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration. Prior to joining TES, she taught and then promoted to the Building Administrator, then to the position of Compliance Officer at a Detroit area Public School Academy. Mrs. McKenzie-Madison began her career in education working in the financial aid department at a State University in Michigan. After her tenure at the university, she worked in adult and vocational education in a variety of roles including community liaison, director of financial aid, and student placement officer. In addition, Mrs. McKenzie-Madison worked in an educational marketing firm that focused on marketing adult education program for public school districts to residents in Southeastern Michigan. She is also experienced in oversight of pupil accounting, Title I programs, grant writing and grant management, and writing policy and procedural materials for schools.

Tawnia Novak. She joined the Total Education Solutions team in November 2007. She started the Ohio region with just one employee herself. The first year we had a total of 8 employees and now the region has over 50 employees working in our schools. Tawnia is responsible for building the business in Ohio which includes marketing and managing the business aspect. Tawnia is responsible for managing all the employees within the region and is a service provider conducting in-services, special education coordinator as well as intervention specialist.
She brings a wealth of experiences to TES from being a special education teacher for seven years. The seven years of teaching were spent in both in public and charter schools. Three years were spent teaching and supervising special education on Navajo Indian Reservation in Shiprock, NM. While working on the reservation, she worked closely with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and had the benefit to be trained by the Department of Education in regards to Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 1997. After a successful career in teaching, she moved into the arena of special education supervision. While in the supervisory role she conducted a number of in-services for staff and clients across five states on Differentiated Instruction, Intervention Assistance Teams, Inclusion, Behavior Management, and Special Education Law. For the past six years, she successfully supervised 17 schools in Ohio, Michigan and Arizona, while ensuring state and federal compliance. Ms. Landskroner has a great passion to ensure compliance be upheld in regards to both federal and state laws as they relate to special education. Ms. Novak is a dynamic person with exceptional managerial skills, public speaking skills, and overall professional and business confidence that will only enhance TES.

Dr. Cerrene Yvonne-Cervantes. joined TES in July 2009 as the new Regional Manager for Northern California Region Office in Sacramento, CA. Prior to joining TES, Cerrene comes with over 25 years of educational backgrounds from being a teacher, administrator, and instructor/trainer for public, non-public schools, and higher level institutions. She also worked as a Special Education Program Manager for Vallejo Unified School District with K-22 Special Education Programs. She also comes with the expertise of being the core faculty for Special Education with Chapman University where she built the program from ground up. She currently is teaching at Chapman, the trainer for Special Education new teacher /intern program for Solano County Office of Education. Her education background is a BA from College of Saint Mary in Education and Special Education, Masters in Education Management from University of LaVerne, and her Doctorate in Grief and Recovery Counseling from the Ray of Hope Seminary in CA. Cerrene is a life-long learner in pursuing her second Doctorate from Argosy University. She holds her CA. Administrative Credential, Multiple Subject Credential and Mild/Moderate Credential. She also has her Behavior Management Certification and Heart Math Licensee to name a few. She has been an active member of APA, NAME, IRA, AAUW, ACSA, and CARS. She has earned honors and awards from Who’s Who, Phi Delta Kappa, Solano County Office of Education, and National Wall of Tolerance to name a few. Cerrene is a data driven research based educator, but also has enthusiasm and passion for education.

Judie Stevens Judie Stevens has a BS degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. Ms. Stevens manages the Supplemental Educational Services program in the Northern California Region. Prior to her career with TES, Ms. Stevens worked as a Site Supervisor of a school age child care program where she enjoyed working with children of all ages. From the onset of Ms. Stevens’ career she has always worked with school age children and understands that not every child learns the same way. Ms. Stevens has always incorporated different teaching methods when working with children and this is a skill she shares with her team of SES Specialists.
