What tutoring services are available for my child?

Total Education Solutions is certified to offer Supplemental Education Services (SES) or after-school tutoring, in Reading, Language Arts, and/or Mathematics to students attending low-performing public schools as identified under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Currently, TES is an approved SES provider in California, Michigan, and Ohio. For the 2007-2008 school year, our program serviced more than 100 school districts in California alone. As an approved SES provider, Total Education Solutions is celebrating the 4th year of providing these services.

How do I sign up for these tutoring services for my child?

Each public school district has its own process in place to allow families to choose an approved provider of SES services. Total Education Solutions works with each school district to ensure that any student that qualifies for and wants to receive after school tutoring, is able to get it.

What is the purpose of these tutoring services?

The purpose of our program is to work with students in program improvement schools to reach their academic potential in Reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics.

What tutoring method or materials will you use with my child?

Our tutoring services are provided on an individual, one-to-one basis to allow for personalized instruction. We work to identify each student’s strengths and build an academic success plan around these strengths. We individualize each session to meet the unique learning needs of the student. Our state-approved curriculum meets each state’s standards for Supplemental Educational Services.

Where are the tutoring services provided?

Tutoring services are provided in the home or in a community location such as the local library or community center.

How old does my child have to be to receive tutoring?

Our SES program serves students in grades Kindergarten through 12.

How much tutoring time will my child get each week?

Each supplemental tutoring session is 1-2 hours.  Tutoring sessions occur one to three times per week. Our program offers approximately 25 hours of after school tutoring.

How will you measure my child’s progress?

Before tutoring begins, each student is tested in both Reading and Math to identify where we can provide the student with the greater benefit. Then we individualize a program specifically for the student within that area of improvement. We tutor students in English and/or Spanish. At the end of the approximately 12 week tutoring program, students are tested again to measure progress and a written report is provided to the parent and the school district.

What results will you produce for my child?

Over the four years of providing supplemental educational services, our students' growth after completing our program has averaged from 25% to 50%. The average student’s progress will result in an increase of one grade level.

What are the qualifications of the tutors who work for you?

Generally, our providers of tutoring services have received a bachelor’s degree.  On occasion, we will hire service providers who are working in the field of education and have an associate’s degree with several years of experience tutoring students.
