Supplemental Enrichment Activities

We are now offering interactive online Supplemental Enrichment Activities ranging from creative outlets to academic improvement to movement fun, and even on to information for caregivers! There are activities for all ages, so be sure to check them all out. The minimum number of participants varies for each activity to go live. If we do not meet the minimum, your payment will be refunded.

Communication and Language Development

Comprehension Skills

Strategies to aid with understanding content, using background knowledge, guided questioning and citing text evidence. Multisensory techniques for basic comprehension and inferencing. Groups set by age and/or current level. Please provide most recent reading comprehension scores/current instructional/independent level of reading.

Language Enrichment Group

Language and vocabulary development are vital components in a child’s life. TES Therapy, Michigan is offering small virtual language enrichment groups for children of all abilities. Our Speech-Language Pathologist uses fun and creative approaches to foster vocabulary, language, and other important concepts. Children will practice following directions, requesting, vocabulary enrichment activities, asking and answering questions, understanding prepositions, basic concepts, categories, and other tasks to develop their receptive (understanding) and expressive (verbal) language skills.

Language Focused Storytime

Join us for some fun summer read a-louds! In this group, we will read a story and incorporate a fun activity to go along with it. This group is lead by a Speech Language Pathologist and will highlight basic language skills for your little one!

Online Social Skills

We focus on teaching skills in Communication, Problem Solving, Peer Interactions, Recognizing and Expressing Emotions, and Perspective Taking. Sessions are filled with fun, engaging activities that encourage social skills development through modeling and reinforcement.

Spelling Smart Heroes!

SPELLING SMART Program for students teaches students who have difficulty with spelling, seeing phonemic patterns, and/or hearing specific letters or blends when spelling. Strategies on the fundamentals of spelling when writing words with short vowels, consonants blends and digraphs, vowel digraphs, affixes (prefixes and suffixes) when spelling two and three syllable words. In addition, this class will cover tricky words like irregular words and homonyms while learning the meaning and origin of the words. This step-by-step approach to spelling enables students to feel more confident and successful in their spelling and writing.

Wandering Wednesdays

Join Total Education Solutions and our tour guides in an exciting three week series. We will explore the wildlife of the San Diego Zoo, the underwater sea life at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and take a trip to Healing Hearts Farm to learn about all of our favorite farm animals. In addition to participating in an exhilarating virtual adventure, children will be targeting vocabulary, following directions, listening comprehension, categorization, comparing and contrasting, and so much more! Join us for this limited engagement.

Writing Skills

Develop appropriate sentence structure and paragraph writing skills. Enhance brainstorming with structured strategies and guides to use with writing. Multisensory techniques for sentence structure, summarizing, and different types of writing content. Groups set by age and/or current level.

Creative Arts

Art Therapy - Elementary School

This small group of kids 6-9 years old, will meet each week to discuss a given topic, create artwork around that topic and process it with a licensed professional counselor and art therapist. Participants will need basic art supplies like paper, scissors, glue and drawing or coloring materials. Extra supplies like tissue paper, paints (tempera or watercolors) and any other art materials are welcomed and encouraged.

Art Therapy - Middle School

This small group of pre-teens 10-13 years old, will meet each week to discuss a given topic, create artwork around that topic and process it with a licensed professional counselor and art therapist. Participants will need basic art supplies like paper, scissors, glue and drawing or coloring materials. Extra supplies like tissue paper, paints (tempera, watercolors or acrylic), magazines, glitter and any other art materials are welcomed and encouraged.

Art Therapy - High School

This small group of teens 14-17 years old, will meet each week to discuss a given topic, create artwork around that topic and process it with a licensed professional counselor and art therapist. Participants will need basic art supplies like paper, scissors, glue and drawing or coloring materials. Extra supplies like tissue paper, paints (tempera, watercolors or acrylic), magazines, glitter and any other art materials are welcomed and encouraged.

Fine and Gross Motor Skills

Creative Cursive Handwriting

This camp is designed to be a fun and interactive introduction to cursive reading and writing. Using a variety of techniques including gross and fine motor warm up activities, specific instruction in cursive letter formation and connections and multi-sensory handwriting practice your child will improve with their cursive skills to achieve greater classroom success.

Energy Retreat

Recharge mid mornings and beat the heat, Let's get together for an energy retreat! Using our own energy source for fun incorporating movements such as mobility, flexibility, and strengthening.

Fitness Fun

This program provides a Trying to get some movement in during this summer break? Join our group for fun fitness meet -ups! We will introduce activities that incorporate movement such as mobility, stretching/yoga, strength training.

Get Up and Move

This program provides an opportunity for kids to get up and move using body weight exercises. Participants will be able to contribute suggestions for activities.

Handwriting, Cursive, and Typing Skills - Letter and Number Formation

This camp is designed to be a fun and interactive boost to improve your child’s fine motor and handwriting skills. Using a variety of techniques including gross and fine motor warm up activities, specific letter formation instruction, and multisensory handwriting practice your child will improve with their handwriting skills to legibly write their letters and numbers for greater classroom success. We will use techniques and tools from a variety of handwriting programs and curriculums including Handwriting Without Tears, Size Matters and Zaner-Bloser.

Handwriting, Cursive, and Typing Skills - Writing Words and Sentences

This camp is designed to be a fun and interactive boost to increase your child’s fine motor skills. Using a variety of techniques including gross and fine motor warm up activities, specific instruction in letter sizing, letter placement and spacing skills, and multi-sensory handwriting practice your child will improve with their handwriting skills to achieve greater classroom success.

Typing and Tech Tools

This camp is designed to be a fun and interactive introduction to touch typing and assistive technology tools for writing. Using a variety of techniques including gross and fine motor warm up activities, specific instruction in touch typing, online practice of typing skills and application of typing to real world activities. We will use techniques and tools from a variety of typing programs as well as specific practice to build the fine and visual motor skills needed to type accurately and efficiently.

Handwriting Without Tears

Handwriting is an important component of daily life for children. TES Therapy is offering virtual handwriting skills groups for children of all abilities. Our occupational therapist will lead weekly Zoom meeting sessions and use fun and unique approaches to develop good handwriting habits. Children will learn to use correct posture, visual motor control, hand strength, endurance, and developmentally appropriate grasps to correctly develop or refine their writing skills.

Movement and Strength

Movement is essential to growth and development. Building new movement patterns and coordinating motor pathways carries over skills for gross motor development. TES therapy is offering weekly virtual small motor movement groups via Zoom for children of all abilities with focus on strength, coordination, and flexibility. Our Physical Therapist will guide movement patterns through music, dance, yoga/stretch poses, and strength and sports training to learn new skills and develop motor abilities. Children will practice following direction, balance challenges, motor planning and body/ postural awareness activities, strength exercises, rhythmic movement, and stretch and flexibility poses to promote and develop gross motor skills. With featured yoga, dance, and sports, there is something for every child and interest to enjoy.

Kindergarten Readiness

Kindergarten and First Grade Reading Readiness

Sound/symbol association of phonics to build automaticity. Enhance decoding, phonological awareness, handwriting skills. Strengthen all multisensory pathways while developing literacy skills. Ages 4-7 (Grades K and 1st) welcome.

Kindergarten Picky Eaters

Send your picky eater to school feeling more confident they can eat their lunch and enjoy snack time with their friends. We will practice managing our lunchbox items and trying new foods in a fun small group setting.

Kindergarten Readiness

Develop gross and fine motor skills as well as visual and motor processing to more easily integrate back to school, or into school for the first time. Skills such as letter recognition, letter formation, drawing, cutting, use of glue, and fine motor control required for intricate work. This will also work on social skills through group dynamics such as listening, turn taking, following instructions, and developing communication skills while engaging in fun activities right from home.

Parent Trainings

Implementing Consequences at Home

This group is designed for parents and caregivers of individuals with autism or other special needs and will be led be a BCBA. The group will be a supportive, relaxed environment in which parents will learn child specific consequences and reinforcement strategies for undesirable behaviors that are seen at home and in the community.

Parent Training and Support Group

This group is designed for parents of individuals with autism or other special needs and will be led by a BCBA. The group will be a supportive, relaxed environment in which parents can chat with other parents and share their experiences with others who can relate to them, share successful strategies, and unique challenges. Weekly ABA topics will also be discussed.

Students and School Re-entry: Preparing for the 2020-2021 Academic School Year

Outbreaks of a disease like the coronavirus can cause disruptions in normal routines, increased stress levels, and strong emotional reactions. This group focuses on processing students’ responses to these unexpected changes, learning and practicing appropriate coping strategies, and mentally preparing for the transition to the 2020-2021 academic school year.

Time to get your STEM on...

STEM is a part of everyday life and can be seen everywhere. Why wait on explaining this field to kids when they can do experiments at home that shows them. Each day would be an activity for kids to do and learn from that are in the STEM field. Not only would it be educational but it would be fun!
